    Learn how to launch a career as a Tech professional in one of NYC’s fastest growing sectors by training with Tech51.

    Tech51 connects NYCHA residents to training and job opportunities in New York City’s tech sector. This program supports aspiring technologists who are applying to either Per Scholas and Pursuit, both of which are renowned training workforce organizations that have helped NYCHA residents launch careers in fields such as IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software development.

    Training programs are offered remote or in person at existing locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island and are available at no upfront cost. Tech51 is a joint initiative with the NYCHA, Pursuit and Per Scholas.

    About Tech51 Partners

    Pursuit

    The Pursuit Fellowship is a 12-month hybrid program that provides software engineer training at no upfront cost* to New Yorkers who and have little to no coding experience. Pursuit Fellow graduates’ salaries on average grow from $18,000 to $95,000 per year and help create pathways from low-income to the upper-middle class.

    After 12 months of training, Pursuit Fellows are connected with employers for job opportunities and receive 36 months of full employment and support services to ensure graduates thrive in their new careers. Through Tech51, NYCHA residents are eligible to receive technical assistance and support services to apply for the Pursuit Fellowship successfully.

    *Pursuit Fellows enter into an Income Share Agreement (ISA). Fellows temporarily pay a percentage of their salary, once employment with income above $50,000 is secured. Please attend an info session to get valuable insights and learn more about the program.

    Minimum Admission Requirements:

    • Be a NYCHA resident
    • Be 18 or older
    • Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Attend an online or in-person information session (register here!)
    • Interested in a career in Software Engineering/Development, no experience required
    • Be able to commit to the hybrid schedule, 3 days online and 2 days in-person

    Per Scholas

    Per Scholas provides rigorous technical training and professional development at no cost. For over 25 years, Per Scholas has helped thousands of New Yorkers launch successful careers in technology. Per Scholas, offers four different training tracks in NYC, both remote and in-person:

    • IT support
    • Cybersecurity
    • Software Engineering
    • AWS Cloud

    Programs are between 12-15 weeks and run Mon-Fri from 9 am-4 pm. Per Scholas has campuses in the Bronx, Brooklyn and classrooms at our partner sites in Queens, East New York, East Harlem, and Staten Island. Our training is free, and you will earn industry-recognized certifications like CompTIA A+ and CySA+ credentials, as well as professional development, learner support, and free job placement assistance. Learn more about Per Scholas New York.

    • Be able to pass an admissions assessment
    • Interested in a career in technology
