NYCHA’s Office of Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES) coordinates access to home-buying education and opportunities for NYCHA public housing and Section 8 residents in collaboration with HUD-certified homebuyer education partners.
NYCHA public housing and Section 8 residents can learn about the home-buying process and how to qualify for a mortgage and first-time homebuyer grants and programs by attending an informative session with REES homebuyer education partners.

For NYCHA residents who are ready to purchase a home, REES coordinates information sessions with affordable homes developers to explain the application and buying process. NYCHA is partnering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Restored Homes to transfer FHA-repossessed homes for rehabilitation and provide homeownership opportunities to low income families.
