NYCHA Health Corps Recruitment Launching in May!
NYC Service and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) are proud to announce the NYCHA Health Corps will begin in September 2023.
The NYCHA Health Corps is a new initiative that provides training and work experience in the field of preventative health at nonprofit and public agencies.

NYCHA Health Corps members will serve at one of the following host sites:
- Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH)
- East New York Restoration
- Health + Hospitals
- Neighbors in Action
- Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership
- New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)
- One Community
- Phoenix Houses of NY/LI, Inc.
- Scan Harbor
Member Benefits Include:
- $23,000 (Pre-tax) Stipend over the course of the 10-month program. Not to be considered an income for benefits purposes – such as SNAP.
- Commuting members receive a MetroCard
- Over 200 hours of learning and development opportunities and trainings, including Cornell University Public Health Essentials Certificate
- Optional limited health coverage and childcare assistance (if applicable)
- Upon successful completion, Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
Minimum Applicant Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older by the program start date
- Must have successfully obtained a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to service 30-35 hours/week
- Strong interest in preventative health, healthy equality, and/or public health
- Be fully vaccinated within 30 days after the program’s start date
