NYCHA Health Corps is Recruiting!
NYC Service, in Partnership with New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) will co-manage, train, and recruit a cohort of NYCHA Health Corp (NHC) AmeriCorps members.
NHC AmeriCorps members will be responsible for performing public health direct service and capacity-building initiatives.
The NYCHA Health Corps is an initiative that provides training and work experience in the field of preventative health at nonprofit and public agencies.
MEMBER SERVICE TERM will be 10 months: September 2024 – June 30, 2025 (1,200 hours during the 10-month)

NYCHA Health Corps members will serve at one of the following host sites:
- Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH)
- Health + Hospitals
- New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)
- One Community
- Scan Harbor
- Health People Inc.
- United Community Centers
Member Benefits Include:
- $23,800 (Pre-tax) Stipend over the course of the 10-month program. Not to be considered an income for benefits purposes – such as SNAP.
- Monthly unlimited MetroCard (for commuting members)
- Over 200 hours of learning and development opportunities and trainings
- Eligible for Health Insurance
- Childcare Assistance (if needed)
- Student Loan Forbearance (if qualified)
- Upon successful completion, Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
Minimum Applicant Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older by the program start date
- Must have successfully obtained a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to service 30-35 hours/week
- Strong interest in preventative health, healthy equality, and/or public health
- This opportunity is exclusive to authorized NYCHA residents and NYCHA Section 8 recipients.
