Evaluate each resident’s need for nursing care on an ongoing basis and provide such care directly or through supervision.
Salary: $32.96 per hour
Essential Accountabilities:
- Coordinate medical pre-admission evaluations and screening of prospective clients.
- Review and update persons with disabilities pre-admission evaluation within thirty (30) days of placement.
- Review monthly the medication record of each resident for potential adverse reactions, allergies, interactions, contraindications, rationality and laboratory test modifications; advises the physician of any medication errors and indicated changes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences.
- Participate in the control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and implementation of appropriate protective and preventive measures.
- Any additional duties as assigned by supervisor in accordance with Federal and New York State regulations and guidelines.
- Transcribe medication orders and coordinate communication with others.
- Develop appropriate professional liaison with physician dieticians, hospitals, and pharmacies.
- Comply with State and Federal regulations regarding medical services provided.
- Ensure correction of deficiencies in the nursing area cited during inspections.
- Ensure all work is reviewed and cosigned by an agency Registered Nurse (to be scheduled by clinical supervisor)
- Administer TB tests.
Other Responsibilities:
- Train staff in all areas relating to the medical and physical health of individuals residing in WellLife programs.
- Provide health and hygiene education to residents on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Involvement in scheduling and transporting clients to medical appointments along with Client Coordinator.
- Act as a medical resource person for Residence Manager and staff to ensure proper medical care and follow through on medical issues.
- Work location and schedules are subject to change.
- Attend certification inspections, utilization review and independent professional reviews as needed.
- Attend nurses’ meetings when requested by supervisor.

Job Qualifications:
Current NYS license and currently registered by NYS Department of Education and specialized training or one year of experience in treating and developmentally disabled.
