NYCHA REES is recruiting Bronx public housing and Section 8 residents for construction training. This Bronx borough-based training prepares NYCHA residents to enter the skilled trades and construction industries. Trainees receive industry-recognized certifications and hands-on instruction to work in trades such as laborer, carpentry, and painting. Graduates also receive employment referrals to NYCHA contractors and union partners. To attend an upcoming virtual information session. 

MINIMUM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be an authorized NYCHA public housing resident or Section 8 tenant.
  2. Live in the Bronx.
  3. Obtain a qualifying score on the Reading and Math Assessment.
  4. 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma/GED.

Follow these steps to register for this event in Opportunity Connect on the NYCHA self-service portal:

 

  1. Register for online access and/or log in to the NYCHA self-service portal https://selfserve.nycha.info/
  2. Once you are logged in, click on “Manage Your Account.”
  3. Click on the “Opportunity Connect” icon.
  4. Go to “Upcoming Events” on the left menu.
  5. Select REES/Hostos Bronx Construction 7/28/2026 on the list of upcoming events and click on “view details”.
  6. You must read and confirm the “Information Sharing and Consent Statement” to continue to the final RSVP step
  7. Click “RSVP”.

Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Note: In Opportunity Connect you can check “My Events” on the left menu at any time to see all your scheduled events. You can also cancel or reschedule.
