Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation’s ( N.M.I.C.) is conducting a six-week program

Giving residents the opportunity to obtain the 8- and 16-hour security certificates along with the NYS security

License. Included training the training will also be the fire guard preparatory certificate, customer service training,

and employment readiness training.

Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation’s six-week program for job seekers includes:

  • 8- and 16-hour Security Certificates
  • New York State Security License
  • Fireguard Preparatory Certificate
  • Customer Service Training
  • Employment Readiness Training

Eligibility

  • Proof of full vaccination
  • At least 18 years old
  • Able to participate in remote instruction
  • Must be ready to work immediately
  • Must pass basic reading test

 

NMIC’s security guard training is virtual. Participants must

have a tablet or laptop/desktop computer to participate.

 Follow these steps to register for this event in Opportunity Connect on the NYCHA self-service portal:

1.Register for online access and/or log in to the NYCHA self-service portal https://selfserve.nycha.info/

2. Once you are logged in, click on “Manage Your Account.”

3. Click on the “Opportunity Connect” icon.

4. Go to “Upcoming Events” on the left menu.

5. Select NMIC 8-28-2025 on the list of upcoming events and click on “view details”.

6. You must read and confirm the “Information Sharing and Consent Statement” to continue to the final RSVP step.

7. Click “RSVP”.

Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Note: In Opportunity Connect you can check “My Events” on the left menu at any time to see all your scheduled events. You can also cancel or reschedule.
