Become a Heating Plant Technician Trainee

NYCHA REES will be hosting information sessions for authorized NYCHA residents (public housing and Section 8 tenant) to discuss an on-the-job training opportunity and jump-start a career as a Heating Plant Technician (HPT). Under supervision, you will learn how to operate and maintain heating and domestic hot water boilers in a public housing development, obtain professional mentorship and participate in related classroom instruction. The paid training is scheduled to begin in September.

Minimum Application Requirements:

  • NYCHA public housing or Section 8 resident.
  • 18 years old or older
  • High school diploma or GED/HSE
  • Valid working documentation
  • Be able to work for 8 hours on your feet
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Pass a math and reading assessment
