BEOC will be hosting an information session to recruit NYCHA Residents
The State University of New York Educational Opportunity Centers are a part of a system of educational institutions that serve eligible adult learners. The Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) will deliver comprehensive, community-based academic and workforce development programs and provide support services for students leading to enhanced employment opportunities, access to further education, personal growth and development.
The Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center is recruiting for the following programs:
- Tourism & Hospitality Operations- Introductory job training in the food and Beverage Industry, Lodging, Recreation Travel & Tourism. Evening classes available. 15 weeks. Fall & Spring start dates available. Must have an 9.0 R/9.0 M score.
- Direct Support Professional- Prepares students for entry level employment as DSP. Students are trained to work with mentally ill, and/or developmentally disabled individuals of all ages. Day & evening classes available. 8 or 10 weeks. Fall & spring start dates available. Must have an 8.0 R/7.0 M score.
- English Second Language- Program assist students in improving their English Language skills (reading, writing, speaking, & listening to facilitate their entry into the job market and other BEOC programs. Day & evening classes available. Fall & Spring start dates available.
- High School Equivalency- Program offers adults who have not graduated from high school the opportunity to prepare for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) Examination. Students are expected to take & pass the TASC. BEOC is an official HSE testing center. Day & evening classes available. Fall & Spring start dates available.
Enrollment Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older (17 with high school diploma, GED or HSE/TASC)
- United states citizen, permanent resident or refugee
- Resident of New York State for one (1) year prior to enrolling
- Low to moderate income

- Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Check “My Events” to see all of your scheduled events.
