Brooklyn Workforce Innovations Information Session

Please see attached below the four programs that will be open for enrollment during this information session. You will receive the details of each program. In addition to it requirements and receive next steps on how to apply once information session has been attended.
Brooklyn Wood
Brooklyn Woods offers a 7-week training to unemployed and low-income New Yorkers in woodworking and fabrication in NYC. We provide our trainees with a solid foundation for a career in woodworking, cabinetmaking, and fabrication.
- Requirements:
- At least 18 years old
- Able to pass an 8th grade level reading test and a 6th grade level math test
- Physically fit, able to work on your feet for hours, and able to lift and move heavy items, including wood, tools, and sheets of material that can weigh 70+ lbs
- Have some background working with your hands, with tools, in a trade, or as a laborer
- Brooklyn Networks
- Brooklyn Networks is a free, six-week training program that helps low-income New Yorkers access careers in low-voltage cabling in NYC. Graduates obtain their industry-recognized BICSI credential and go on to work in fields like voice and data cabling, security system installation, broadcast cabling, and A/V system installation.

- Ability to Commit to Full Time Training
- Kind Works
- Kind Work helps talented young adults ages 20-26, who have in-person customer services experience, launch new careers in the tech industry. The 6-week training covers industry-standard customer support software platforms to prepare students for work in Customer Experience, Customer Support, or Customer Success careers in the tech sector.
- Requirements:
- 20-26 years old
- Must have a High School Equivalency or High School Diploma
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Live in New York City
- Red Hook on the Road- Commercial (CDL Class B) Driving:
- Red Hook on the Road helps unemployed New Yorkers who already have their Class D license start new careers in commercial driving in NYC, earning their Class B CDL License. Following four weeks of classroom and behind-the-wheel training, students take the NYS Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) road test.
- Requirements:
- Must be unemployed – no part-time or gig-employment (Uber, Grub Hub, etc.)
- 21 years or older
- Live in New York City and be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Obtain and submit a driver record from the DMV that must be less than 30 days old
- Able to attend training Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Absolutely no DWIs or DUIs
Follow these steps to register for this event in Opportunity Connect on the NYCHA self-service portal:
- Register for online access and/or log in to the NYCHA self-service portal https://selfserve.nycha.info/
- Once you are logged in, click on “Manage Your Account.”
- Click on the “Opportunity Connect” icon.
- Go to “Upcoming Events” on the left menu.
- Select BWI 8-06-2026 on the list of upcoming events and click on “view details”.
- You must read and confirm the “Information Sharing and Consent Statement” to continue to the final RSVP step.
- Click “RSVP”.
Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Note: In Opportunity Connect you can check “My Events” on the left menu at any time to see all your scheduled events. You can also cancel or reschedule.
Once you have enrolled to attend the information session. You will receive an email confirming your enrollment with the ZOOM LINK attached to attend information session.
