Are you interested in starting a career in construction?

NYCHA, in partnership with 1546 ENY Owner LLC and St. Nicks Alliance organization is offering ongoing training and employment opportunities for NYCHA Howard Houses. To support this effort, NYCHA REES is building a pipeline of interested residents to refer to St. Nicks Alliance and 1546 ENY Owner LLC as opportunities become available, with priority given to Howard Houses residents. If you are interested in being considered, please register with REES so we can share your information with the developer contracted with NYCHA when training and job opportunities open. A series of trainings is tentatively scheduled between January through October 2026. Attendance at one information session is required to qualify. While all NYCHA residents are encouraged to apply, Howard Houses residents will receive priority for the 2026 training cycles.

What you’ll gain in the 7-Week Training:

  • SNA Workplace Success Skills Certificate
  • 30-hour OSHA construction certification
  • 10-hour NYC DOB Site Safety Training certification
  • Scaffolding certification
  • F-60 certification
  • Industry mentor support after graduation
  • Employment opportunities upon completion

Current Eligibility Requirements:

Attend ONE mandatory info session:

    • Every Wednesday at 1:00pm
    • Location: 92 Throop Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11026
    • Transit: J/M train to Lorimer Street, B46 bus to Gerry Street, and B57/B15 bus or G train to Flushing Avenue

Additionally, participants must:

  • At least 18 years or older and have legal rights to work in the United States
  • Verified NYCHA resident are encouraged to apply, and priority will be given to Howard residents
  • English language fluency
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds overhead
  • Must have a government issues photo ID
  • Ability to complete 7 weeks of training and employment if hired

  • 1 Construction Training in December
  • 1 Construction Training in January
  • 1 Construction Training in February
  • 1 Construction Training in March
  • 1 Construction Training in May
  • 1 Construction Training in June
  • 1 Construction Training in August
  • 2 Construction Trainings in October
  • Where: TBD (Training will be in-person and location to be provided when confirmed)
  • Cost: FREE for NYCHA residents, with priority for Howard Houses residents

Residents must first register their interest with REES using the steps below. St. Nicks Alliance will contact interested residents to enroll in an info session. The training provider will make the final determination on enrollment for the January–October 2026 training cycles.

Follow these steps to register for upcoming solar training event(s) in Opportunity Connect on the NYCHA self-service portal:

  1. Register for online access and/or log in to the NYCHA self-service portal https://selfserve.nycha.info/
  2. Once you are logged in, click on “Manage Your Account.”
  3. Click on the “Opportunity Connect” icon.
  4. Go to “Upcoming Events” on the left menu. Select Training Opportunity: T2P 1546 ENY Skilled Build Training January 2026 on the list of upcoming events and click on “view details”.
  5. You must read and confirm the “Information Sharing and Consent Statement” to continue to the final RSVP step.
  6. Click “RSVP”.
  7. Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Note: In Opportunity Connect you can check “My Events” on the left menu at any time to see all your scheduled events. You can also cancel or reschedule.
