NYCHA REES is recruiting Bronx residents of public housing and Section 8 tenants for construction training.

This Bronx borough-based training prepares NYCHA residents to enter the skilled trades and enter the construction industry. Trainees receive the industry recognized certifications and hands-on instruction to work in trades such as laborer, carpentry, and painting. Graduates receive job placement assistance for up to one year and are referred to employment opportunities with NYCHA contractors and apprenticeship opportunities with union partners.

Time – 11 a.m. to Noon

Location- ZOOM

THIS IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITY INCLUDES:

  • Industry certifications such as OSHA 30 and Site Safety Training (SST)
  • Full-time skills instruction with experienced workforce trainers
  • Upon completion, referrals to employment and union apprenticeships

MINIMUM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be an authorized NYCHA public housing resident or Section 8 tenant.
  2. Live in the Bronx.
  3. Obtain a qualifying score on the Reading and Math Assessment.
  4. 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma/GED.
