Attend a Family Self Sufficiency Information Session

NYCHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is an employment-based program that helps eligible Section 8 residents work toward their employment, education, and financial goals. Participants work with an FSS Coordinator to create an individualized plan and receive referrals to services and resources that support their progress toward self-sufficiency.

Program Benefits May Include

  • Career planning and employment support
  • Education and job-training referrals
  • Financial planning and credit-building support
  • Connections to community resources
  • An opportunity to build escrow savings as earned income increases
  • Continued Section 8 assistance while participating

About FSS escrow: Escrow is one possible program benefit. When a participant’s earned income increases, a portion of the resulting rent increase may be credited to an FSS escrow account.
