We are seeking a second- or third-year law student to join us as a legal intern during fall 2025. This is a paid part-time internship working with our Affordable Housing & Real Estate Practice Group in our New York City office. Our interns provide legal research, writing, and other substantive support for our attorneys on projects that are both challenging and exciting. Interns will be paired with a partner mentor and receive real-time feedback. We also offer various training programs – both practice and office specific – throughout the duration of the program.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Candidates who are New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) public housing or Section 8 residents; or
- Candidates who qualify as Section 3 workers as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
- Any worker who currently fits, or when hired within the past five years fit, at least one of the following categories, as documented:
- The worker’s income for the previous or annualized calendar year is below the income limit established by HUD.
- The worker is employed by a Section 3 Business Concern.
- The worker is a YouthBuild participant.
- Any worker who currently fits, or when hired within the past five years fit, at least one of the following categories, as documented:
Qualified candidates will have strong academic credentials (3.0 GPA or higher), superb judgment and communication skills, excellent legal writing skills, and a commitment to providing excellent client services. While there is no guarantee of post-graduation employment, this is an excellent opportunity to gain substantive experience at an international law firm.
In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated salary for this position in New York City is $65 per hour. This salary is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate at the time of this posting.
