Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation is holding an information session for security training. NYCHA residents will have the opportunity to enroll in the training and obtain their 8- and 16-hour Security Certificates, NYS security License, and Fireguard Preparatory Certificate.

Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation’s six-week program for job seekers includes:

  • 8- and 16-hour Security Certificates
  • New York State Security License
  • Fireguard Preparatory Certificate
  • Customer Service Training
  • Employment Readiness Training

Eligibility

  • Proof of full vaccination
  • At least 18 years old
  • Able to participate in remote instruction
  • Must be ready to work immediately
  • Must pass basic reading test

 

NMIC’s security guard training is virtual. Participants must

have a tablet or laptop/desktop computer to participate.

  1. Register for online access & log-in to self-service portal https://selfserve.nycha.info/ which will allow you to manage your own events.
  2. Once you are logged in, Click “View Details.”
  3. Click “Opportunity Connect” on the bottom left side.
  4. Click “Upcoming Events” on the left side.
  5. Select “Query.”
  6. Go to the “Event Name” column.
  7. Type exactly as shown here (case sensitive): NMIC 11-12-2024
  8. Press Enter.
  9. Click “View Details.“
  10. Click “RSVP.“
  11. Check your email for confirmation once you RSVP. Check “My Events” to see all of your scheduled events.
