Are You Looking to Start a Career in the Food Industry?
THIS FREE TRAINING PROGRAM will lead to certification in food preparation and handling and prepare you for a career in the food industry. Program graduates will be ready to take on a role in food production or manufacturing, commercial kitchens, entry-level baking, food retail, and more.
Successful trainees will be provided with job placement assistance at Industry City and with other local businesses.
PARTICIPANTS WILL OBTAIN:
- NYC Food Handlers License
- Basic knife handling and baking skills
- Knowledge of kitchen machinery and tools
- Basic math, including weights and measurement
- Resume and interview skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 18 and over
- Unemployed or underemployed
- NYC resident
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Pass basic math and reading exam
- Available for training Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Interested in launching a career in the food industry
TRAINING DETAILS:
- Training begins early February
- Length of training: 3.5 weeks
- Location: Sunset Park
