Citi Bike offers a discounted membership for New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) residents 16 and older. Instead of the usual $163 yearly membership price, NYCHA residents are eligible for a $5 per month membership, with an annual commitment.
Citi Bike is seeking outgoing, high energy, and engaged NYCHA Residents to be Citi Bike Community Champions who will help educate NYCHA residents about bike share. As a Community Champion, you will have the opportunity to meet new people, promote the NYCHA discount and recruit new Citi Bike members, all while sharing the fun and excitement of biking in NYC.

Duration: May 1 to October 1, 2017
You are the expert on your community, so we want your help in promoting Citi Bike to your neighborhood. Your unique expertise as a NYCHA resident will ensure that we get more NYCHA residents riding bikes and that this program is a success! Community Champion responsibilities include:
Become a Citi Bike expert (we’ll give you all the materials you need to succeed!)
Complete an orientation about the Citi Bike Program
Attend 1 free bike class through one of our partners, Bike New York. We can help you find an appropriate class (e.g., Learn to Ride, Street Skills) based on your experience level
Be an active advocate for cycling in NYC by introducing bike share to new audiences
Attend 2 NYCHA Family Days as a Citi Bike to introduce the program to the community and talk to people about the benefits of Citi Bike
Attend 2 NYCHA tenant association meetings to introduce the Citi Bike program to a new audience to talk about Citi Bike
Set up special events in your neighborhood by drawing on your network of friends, family, coworkers, and/or social media followers
Set up 1 Citi Bike Street Skills class – you find the location and we’ll provide an instructor
Set up 1 group ride, you set the time and place and we’ll find a leader!
Organize a how-to demonstration at a Citi Bike station, followed by a ride
Sign up new members! And be a resource for the members you sign up
Promote Citi Bike to friends and neighbors; encourage your network to sign-up to become a member
Stay engaged with the Citi Bike team
Attend a bi-weekly call with Citi Bike Education and Outreach Manager
Wrap-up meeting at the end of the season
Rewards increase the more new members your bring in.
Get $10 for every new NYCHA resident you sign up for Citi Bike
One Free Citi Bike membership and helmet for yourself
Build connections with your community and neighborhood leaders
Must be a NYCHA resident to qualify for this program
18 year of age or older
Outgoing and energetic
Know how to ride a bike
Have a smartphone and ability to add and use new applications
Ability to take direction and to learn basic facts about the Citi Bike system
Self-starter, able to work effectively and reliable with minimal supervision
Be engaged with or interest in engaging with your local community
