Adult Basic Education
Pre-GED programs are available for NYCHA residents interested in getting a GED but may not be ready to take a GED class immediately. Based on how well you score on an initial assessment test, you may be enrolled in a Pre-GED course which will help you advance toward a GED class.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
An ABE program provides education services in basic math, reading, and writing skills. These classes are available for NYCHA residents who need additional preparation before taking Pre-GED classes.
English Speakers Of Other Languages (ESOL)
Adults who need help with the English language can enroll in an ESOL class. There are numerous programs that can help NYCHA residents improve your English language skills no matter what your native language.
The New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) Office of Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES) has partnerships for NYCHA Residents interested in finding an Adult Basic Education Program.
